Fossil Free NAU is a student led campaign that aims to eliminate Northern Arizona University's investment in the top 200 coal, oil, and natural gas corporations. We situate ourselves within the climate justice movement as we work to transition NAU to reinvest in a just and sustainable future. Because it is unconscionable to pay for our education with investments that will condemn the planet to climate disaster, we call on Northern Arizona University and the City of Flagstaff to immediately freeze any new investments in fossil-fuel corporations and to divest within five years from direct ownership and from any commingled funds that include fossil-fuel public equities and corporate bonds. Our campaign focuses around the crisis of the century, climate change. Climate change leaves people vulnerable and forces groups to relocate their lives. The fossil fuel industry and their practices stand against indigenous rights, immigrants, women's rights, sustainable economics, food supply, and so much more. Every realm of life is affected by the fossil fuel industry and climate change. Our campaign aims to reach out to groups in all walks of life to band together against climate chaos and climate injustice.
